OUR FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: Dr. Laura Addison is a licensed psychologist in the state of California and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Dr. Addison has dedicated over 10 years to studying applied behavior analysis and gaining experience in working with individuals with developmental disabilities. In 2006, Dr. Addison earned her doctorate degree in School Psychology from Louisiana State University where she studied under the expertise of Dr. Dorothea Lerman, a leader in the field of applied behavior analysis. Dr. Addison completed a pre-doctoral internship at the Marcus Institute in Atlanta, Georgia. While at the Marcus Institute, Dr. Addison received supervision from several leading experts in the field of applied behavior analysis including Dr. Wayne Fisher, Dr. Henry Roane, and the current editor of the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, Dr. Cathleen Piazza.
Dr. Addison’s current research interests are in the assessment and treatment of challenging behaviors, as well as, caregiver training of effective interventions. She has extensive experience in parent and teacher training. One specific area of interest is in the assessment and treatment of food refusal and food selectivity. In addition, Dr. Addison has co-authored several articles on the functions of emerging speech in children with developmental disabilities. Dr. Addison has served as a guest reviewer for both the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis and Research in Developmental Disabilities. Dr. Addison has also been a faculty member at California State University, Los Angeles in the department of Special Education. |
